UK - Nigeria Trade Growth Drives Demand for Security Services in Nigeria

The speakers at the NBCC Economic Outlook event in London, UK.

The strengthening of UK - Nigeria trade relations is opening up significant opportunities for UK businesses in Nigeria. Bilateral trade already exceeds £8billion and the Enhanced Trade & Investment Partnership (ETIP), which has now been in place for two years, has certainly encouraged more UK companies to consider exploring partnerships, investments and expansion into Nigeria.

Recent months have seen an even greater increase in activities supporting UK - Nigeria economic collaboration. A delegation from Mantra recently attended a high-level event in London, the inaugural ‘Nigeria - UK Economic Outlook’, hosted by the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Institute of Directors.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including the UK Trade Envoy to Nigeria, Florence Eshalomi MP, several senior African diplomatic representatives and prominent industry leaders. Insightful presentations by keynote speakers focussed on the benefits to potential investors bought about by Nigeria’s recent macroeconomic reforms and the opportunities for UK - Nigeria trade offered by the ETIP agreement. A panel discussion highlighted specific areas of growth in high potential sectors including telecoms, fintech, agro-processing, manufacturing and infrastructure.

President Bola Tinubu’s UK State Visit Marks a Historic Milestone

The NBCC Economic Outlook event was closely followed by the official State Visit to the UK by Nigerian President Tinubu, the first of its kind in 37 years. This landmark engagement demonstrates a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties, expanding bilateral trade and unlocking new investment opportunities between the two countries. Indeed, during the State Visit, there were several meetings, discussions and announcements on new trade initiatives in both the UK and Nigeria.
